Using Your Comcast MFA and Password Reset Tool

Step 1: Set Up Your MFA

Please navigate to https://aka.ms/mfasetup.

  • When asked for your login email, it is going to be [Your ID above]@cable.comcast.com followed by your Temp Password on the next screen. (This allows Microsoft Online to know you are working on your Xfinity account. Do not use your partner email).

  • Follow the prompts on the following screens to setup your Authenticator App and Phone Number.

(This allows Microsoft Online to know you are working on your Xfinity account. Do not use your partner email).

New passwords must contain at least 16 characters, but because complexity is no longer required (e.g., including numbers and special characters), you can create a “passphrase”. Passphrases are much simpler than traditional passwords! (example: ilovetoreadnovels)

Step 2: Authenticator Registration

Any computer or mobile device: Go to https://passwordreset.microsoftonline.com. (Keep the URL handy by writing it down or saving it in your phone.)

  • Because Comcast's password reset tool requires two verification methods, we recommend setting up additional methods such as txt and the Microsoft authenticator app.

  • After registering a phone number successfully, Authenticator requests can be approved via call or text message.

Self Service Password Reset

  • To reset your password, select I forgot my password.

  • To unlock your account, select I know my password but still can't sign in.

  • Follow the verification prompts to unlock account and or reset password using mobile phone or Microsoft authenticator app

  • After completing two verification methods, you will be able to set a new password - or, if you requested an unlock, your account will be unlocked
